SW Locums need an Advanced social worker to work in an adult social care team, supporting people from transitions to end of life. The team is larger social care team and the role will be to support qualified and unqualified staff and be an active member of the leadership team.

You will be expected to have substantial understanding of the principles and values underlying the Care Act 2014; Health and Social Care Act 2012; Mental Health Act (1983, as amended) and Mental Capacity Act (2005) and other legislation as they relate to this client group.

This is a long term temporary contract with the chance of becoming a long term ongoing post.

Candidates applying for advanced practitioner roles need advanced knowledge and skills to address complex social issues, including: 

• Bachelor’s degree in social work that is approved by Social Work England  
• Registered with the Social Work England as a qualified social worker
• MA/PGDip/PGCert in Advanced Social Work Practice (depending on role requirements/employer) 
• Significant experience as a social worker (usually 2 years minimum), ideally in the field you are applying for (e.g. rehabilitation) 
• Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check issued within the past 12 months. 

You will provide positive leadership, support and advice to social work staff and assist the Team Manager in ensuring the delivery of effective services for adults through the promotion of high standards of practice in assessment and care planning.

You should be an experienced practice educator and ASYE assessor and support student social workers and newly qualified social workers. You will need to demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations, assessing and managing higher levels of risk while promoting enablement and self-determination. You will need to network and liaise with a wider range of professionals and other colleagues, including at more senior or strategic levels. As the advanced practitioner social work you are expected to promote a culture of professional curiosity and contribute to the positive social work identity within the organisation.
