Associate Lecturer in Digital

Location: Manchester

Salary: £35 per hour teaching, £20 prep rate

Contract dates: Monday 23rd September to Friday 1st November 2024

The Role

They are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Associate Lecturer in Digital to join their team. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in digital technologies, programming, and web development who are passionate about teaching and inspiring the next generation of digital innovators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across various digital subjects, with a focus on programming, software development, and web development.
  • Develop and deliver engaging course content that meets the needs of diverse learners.
  • Provide academic support and mentorship to students, helping them to achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the digital curriculum.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and other activities that support the academic mission of the University.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Digital Technology, or a related field is essential. A postgraduate qualification and/or industry certifications would be advantageous.
  • Previous teaching experience in a higher education setting is desirable but not essential. They welcome applications from industry professionals with substantial practical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and engagingly.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports all students.

Required Specialisms:

  • Programming and Software Development:
    • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, and C#.
    • Ability to teach both introductory and advanced concepts in software development.
  • Web Development:
    • Proficiency in front-end development technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as frameworks like React or Angular.
    • Strong understanding of back-end development using technologies such as PHP, Node.js, and Django.
    • Experience in using digital marketing tools and techniques, including SEO, Google Analytics, and content management systems like WordPress.
  • Cloud computing (such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
