P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a Testing Operative to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis based in Great Yarmouth.

Role Summary:

This role involves coordination and control of testing and inspection activities to maximise efficiency and to ensure product and service quality is maintained. The Testing Operative will ensure that the control of work in the testing & inspection area is preserved to ensure fleet availability is maintained.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Under instruction from Testing Lead, prioritising of all work activities to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Participating in morning meeting with Testing Lead to plan and prioritise workload.
  • Carrying out visual inspection and testing of all company assets on site and off site if required.
  • Noting defects and faults, re-certifying containers as per company procedure.
  • Updating container certification on the company’s fleet management system (C-SAM).
  • Ensuring that all units and relevant equipment are inspected and tested to the relevant legislative industry standards and specifications.
  • Checking of damaged slings, identifying damage and preparing paperwork for internal workshop repairs or 3rd repairs.
  • Unloading & loading 3rd party transport by means of forklift truck.
  • Ensuring all safety, environmental and quality controls are rigorously maintained.
  • Completion of all corresponding paperwork associated with the testing and inspection activities as required.
  • Carrying out testing at customer premises to ensure fleet certification is maintained.
  • Ensuring the testing & inspection area is maintained in a safe and tidy condition.
  • Co-ordinating additional ad hoc tasks as designated by the Testing Lead.
  • Liaising with the Yard Co-ordinator and office personnel in relation to testing & inspection activities.
  • To have a general understanding of the areas of our ISO management system that are relevant to the role, comply with our company Group Quality Policy and have an understanding of the companies targets and objectives.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in a safe manner in line with current risk assessments and good working practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous Test and Inspection background.
  • Previous experience of working in yard environment.
  • Certified to carry out testing to MPI level II – or equivalent depending on work region.
  • Eddy Current certification (preferred)
  • Forklift License (preferred)
  • Working at Height certification (preferred)

  • Ability to prioritise workload.
