Our client, Pinnacom, is a specialized Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Telecoms Service Provider that excels in delivering internet services and telecom solutions in challenging environments. Role Summary

The Senior Network Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting their network infrastructure. This includes working with Mikrotik OS-based equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of company systems such as email, servers, and portals, and providing second and third-line support to customers. The role demands a proactive approach, with the ability to respond to issues at any time, particularly in emergencies. Although the position is formally based on a 9am to 5pm schedule, flexibility and commitment to resolving out-of-hours issues are essential.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Maintenance: Manage and maintain the company’s ISP infrastructure, primarily utilizing Mikrotik OS.
  • Systems Management: Oversee the upkeep of email systems, servers, and company portals.
  • Customer Support: Provide second and third-line support, maintaining excellent customer relations.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records and create detailed network diagrams.
  • Training: Train and support other team members, sharing expertise and best practices.
  • Field Work: Occasionally stay overnight on jobs or at event sites, though remote access is increasingly utilized.

 

Essential Skills

  • Mikrotik OS Proficiency: Extensive knowledge and experience with Mikrotik OS, which is central to Pinnacom’s ISP operations.
  • System Maintenance: Ability to manage the company’s infrastructure, including email, servers, and related systems.
  • Documentation: Strong skills in maintaining detailed records and network diagrams.
  • Customer Relations: Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with customers.
  • Training Skills: Capable of training and mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Full Driving License: Necessary for on-site work and travel.

 

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Field Installation Experience: Prior experience with installing network infrastructure and IT in the field is highly advantageous.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure, with a creative approach to problem-solving.
