JOB TITLE: Robotics Applications Engineer

INDUSTRY: Robotics

LOCATION: North West (30 / 70 split between office and in the field once up to speed)

SALARY: £40 – 45k depending on experience, 28 days holiday including bank holidays, pension, private healthcare.

JOB PURPOSE

As a Robotics Applications Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and integration of robotics software and hardware for robotics systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and test innovative solutions for machining and additive applications.

My client is one of the UKs leading integrators specialising in machining and additive applications. The company specialises in advanced robotics systems and are pioneering the use of robotics to improve the productivity of manufacturing across the UK and overseas. They work with some of the biggest names and are a platinum systems integration partner for KUKA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop robotic systems and software applications tailored to client needs in machining and 3D printing: Kuka KRL knowledge desirable.
  • Integration of operation systems that includes knowledge and troubleshooting for common software/hardware issues in complex robotic systems and overall electric-mechanical drive system components.
  • Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Program and configure robots, controllers, and associated equipment.
  • Perform system integration, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving issues in integrated systems.
  • Experience with robotics kinematics, motion control, and multi-robot coordination: Knowledge of kinematic principles, motion control techniques, and strategies for coordinating multiple robots.
  • Strong understanding of data processing algorithms for real-time applications: Ability to design and implement efficient algorithms for processing sensor data.
  • Work with the service and maintenance team to provide post-installation support services to ensure ongoing client satisfaction.
  • Support the development activities for consecutive projects.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of machinery systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Experience with industrial robot manipulators: Familiarity with industrial robot manipulators such as KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots, etc. Ability to interface with and program these robots for various tasks, including manipulation and assembly.
  • Strong interpersonal/team skills to build positive relationships with people internal/external to the organisation.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, peers, and senior-level leaders.
  • Defined process for problem solving working alone and, in a team.
  • Organisational skills to complete a variety of tasks and assignments in an effective manner.
  • Problem-solving skills to arrive at reliable conclusions based on analysis of information.
  • Good communication skills to convey a range of information clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Skilled in the use of software such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.
  • Able to safely drive own or company vehicles to perform assigned duties.
  • Able to travel approximately 50% of the time.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task activities with shifting priorities.
