Duct Fitter

£45,000 + van, pension, 33 holidays (inc BHols)

Ideal location Coventry to Northampton to Leicester.

£45,000 to £48,000 total earnings: £40k basic + approx’ £5k overtime and paid travel time.  There is also a company bonus worth roughly £2,000-£3,000, and great pension.

Overtime and Paid Travel time can be worth about £5,000, plus basic of £40k.

Paid travel time and overtime.  Accommodation and food-travel expenses.

40hr week.  Monday to Friday usually.  Weekend work is rare.

Company van, tools, workwear and PPE provided.

On average, work away from home 50% of the time.

Mechanical Duct Fitter installing ducting and ductwork in industrial sites and sometimes scientific facilities up and down the UK.

Job activities

·Installing ducting and ductwork in industrial sites and scientific laboratories.

·Mechanical Fitting, installing duct systems, ensuring they are securely mounted and properly aligned.

·The Duct Fitter insulates and seals duct joints to prevent leaks and ensure energy efficiency.

·Reading and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawing plans to determine the ducting layout.

·You’ll be Duct Fitter Team Leader and you’ll work as a duo with your Fitters Mate as a team of two, preparing the ducting for hand over to the commissioning team.

·The company have seven Duct Fitter installation teams spread across the country, so you get first-dibs on the work local to your home town.  On average the job is 50% away from home, but no two weeks are the same.  The boss wants a happy team so tries to give people as much local work as possible, and if you flag up special dates in advance the boss will try to make sure you are closer to home for things like school plays or a family appointment.  The Duct Fitter team work 99% Monday to Friday. 

£45,000 to £48,000 total earnings: £40k basic + approx’ £5k overtime and paid travel time.

This is a UK division of an international business, with a strong reputation for helping customers comply with safety legislation as well as environmental and energy efficiency objectives.  Typical Duct Fitting installation projects range from a few days to a few weeks in duration.  They have a separate commissioning team (commissioning teams go in last and connect the systems and controls). 

This job will suit a Duct Fitter or Mechanical Fitter that is:

·Based in the Coventry, Rugby, Hinckley, Northampton, Leicester area.

·Able to travel to and work at industrial sites usually in the Midlands and fairly often other parts of the UK.

·Able to work away from home a couple of times a week.  Sometimes away all week, and other week get home every night.  No two weeks are the same.

·Experienced in safe working procedures in industrial work places, including working at height or confined spaces. Also able to work in clean-rooms and scientific sites sometimes.

·Hands on mechanical fitter skills and experience installing ductwork and bracketry securing ducting in place, sealing and the ductwork and preparing the way for the commissioning team.
