Are you an enthusiastic and committed individual who has a passion for potatoes? We are looking for an Agronomist to join our team at our Lincoln site. 

As a Branston Agronomist, you will support the Branston growers with all elements of crop production. You will also form strong relationships internally with our Procurement and Technical team to ensure potato supply meets customer demands. Creating lasting relationships is imperative to this role and great communication is essential to succeed.

The role of an Agronomist is hands on and covers all agronomic aspects of potato production, through growing, handling and storage. 

Example of duties include; 

  • Providing agronomic support to Branston growers (everything but writing chemical recommendations)
  • Advising on all aspects of pre-pack potato production.
  • Working closely with Procurement to ensure timely and accurate communication of crop quality and tonnages.
  • Assisting with variety development and field trials.
  • To communicate Branston and customer initiatives and opportunities with growers
  • Ensure grower compliance with technical standards.
  • Sampling and quality analysis of potato crops in the field, during harvest and throughout storage.

You will be committed to keeping yourself up to date with all aspects of potato growing by attending conferences, meetings, and networking with other technical persons in our sector.

You will play a pivotal role in helping Branston become carbon net zero by helping growers deliver our aspirations and our customers with regards to the environment.

Ideally, you'll have agricultural, plant biology or environmental sciences training. Knowledge of crop protection would be advantageous, as would previous experience in agriculture or horticulture. A keen can-do attitude is essential, we'll provide training to the right candidate.
