Job Overview:

Are you an experienced Social Worker with a passion for nurturing and developing newly qualified social workers? We are looking for an Advanced Practitioner to join our Social Work Academy in Manchester. In this role, you will support ASYE (Assessed and Supported Year in Employment) students within a localities team, helping to shape the next generation of social workers. This is a pivotal position within a team dedicated to providing hands-on experience and professional growth for newly qualified social workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting ASYE Social Workers: Mentor and support a team of five ASYE social workers, guiding them through their first year of practice and helping them develop their skills and confidence.
  • Team Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of the team, ensuring that the ASYE social workers gain comprehensive experience across various aspects of social work.
  • Family Safeguarding Model: Work within the family safeguarding model, ensuring that practice aligns with best practices and supports positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Deputising: Act as a deputy to the Team Manager, providing leadership and oversight when needed, and ensuring the smooth operation of the team.
  • Case Management: Hold a small caseload of more complex cases, using these as learning opportunities to demonstrate effective practice and decision-making for the team.
  • Professional Development: Foster a learning environment within the team, encouraging continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Requirements:
  • Social Work England (SWE) registration is essential.
  • Significant experience in social work, with a strong background in mentoring or supporting newly qualified social workers.
  • Familiarity with the family safeguarding model.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to deputise for a team manager and manage complex cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to supporting the professional development of newly qualified social workers.
