We are looking to source a senior mechanical design analysis engineer for an initial 6-month contract. The role is deemed inside IR35 for tax purposes and will be based on our client’s site near Nuneaton.

Our client is a leading Tier 1 supplier of specialist products to the commercial vehicle industry for a world-wide market and offer an excellent, modern working environment.

The Role:

The primary requirement is that you will have good, proven experience in the use of Moldflow analysis (preferably Moldex3D) and some structural FEA experience applied to plastic moulded components.

You will ideally be an experienced user of Creo CAD software but other, leading CAD packages may also be considered (NX, SolidWorks, Catia).

Experience of using Windchill or other, similar Data management systems for version control is also required. Training can be provided where necessary.

The role will focus on designing and analysing mostly plastic components for housing a range of electronics.

The role will also require the integration and packaging of electronic assemblies into designs.

Similar electronics packaging experience is desirable as well as some previous experience of pneumatic valves and associated components.

Summary of Other Skills/Experience:


Create 3D models along with associated and detailed 2D drawings to enable manufacture
Communicate with external suppliers, the appropriate internal departments, and personnel to optimise manufacturability, cost and performance requirements
Good working knowledge of BS8888
Good working knowledge of IATF 16949
Working knowledge of design of pneumatic systems
Working knowledge of design of plastic/rubber moulding
Working knowledge of design of aluminium casting
Working knowledge of design of pressings
Working knowledge of APQP
Ability to carry out design calculations
Ability to solve problems and be self-motivated
Ability to communicate at all levels, verbal, written and presentations
Ability to work with others in a cross-discipline team of engineers
Ability to use the full suite of Design documentation for safety critical product development (Mechanical)
Knowledge of pneumatic systems
