Morson are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to work on a large Nuclear New Build Project in the East of England.

About the Project:
A leading energy company is embarking on a landmark nuclear power station project on the East Coast of Suffolk. This new station will feature two EPR nuclear reactors, delivering low-carbon electricity to 6 million households. This project is crucial for the UKs climate change agenda and energy policy, with construction commencing in 2024.

Role Overview:
We seek experienced Project Managers to drive the engineering, procurement, and manufacturing efforts for the Civil Works Alliance (CWA). The initial goal is to advance engineering and secure the supply chain by replicating a proven nuclear power plant design.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engineering studies and ensure they meet project needs.
Implement site-specific design changes and manage design deliverables.
Coordinate internal and external project interfaces for seamless delivery.
Engage with stakeholders early to identify risks and manage obsolescence.
Oversee the technical procurement process for specific contracts.
Ensure lessons learned and knowledge capture are standard practice.
Manage plans in line with the project Definition Document (PjDD).
Drive contract and package delivery to meet safety, budget, and technical requirements.
Administer contracts effectively, handling early warnings, compensation events, and instructions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare manufacturing, design, and construction contracts.
Ensure compliance with the project’s Assurance strategy and governance requirements.
Act as the Point of Contact for Risk and Opportunity Management.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Proven success in coordinating multi-disciplinary design/procurement work.
Project management experience from concept to handover on large infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of major project complexities, including interface management.
Experience with pre-tender and tender stages for industrial equipment contracts.
Excellent communication skills in client and contractor interactions.
Success in managing engineering design, contract execution strategies, multi-discipline EPCM projects, and complex contract procurement.
Proficiency in cost control, risk management, scheduling, change management, and earned value tools.
Experience in closing out commercial claims and negotiations.
Desirable Qualifications:

Previous experience in the nuclear industry.
Formal project management qualification.
Direct experience with contracts for nuclear power stations.
