Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team, where you will be responsible for building, configuring, and maintaining IT solutions tailored to meet the security needs of our systems. Your role will involve developing and validating IT hardware, network infrastructure, and software configurations to ensure the ongoing health and maintenance of our products. Additionally, you will support legacy system issues and receive direct mentorship, including guidance from a senior team member based in the UK. This role requires SC Clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development - Infrastructure Solutions:

  • Implement IT network and system solutions for both existing and new product developments.
  • Design and configure computer networks, including LANs, WANs, and intranets.
  • Participate in sustaining engineering efforts to optimise network performance, security, and efficiency.
  • Regularly evaluate and test network performance, making adjustments as necessary.

Product Development - IT Systems:

  • Develop or update specifications for computer purchases based on system requirements.
  • Configure computer hardware to meet product needs.
  • Handle requisitions for purchasing hardware and software items.
  • Collaborate with vendors to procure and evaluate candidate computers and associated hardware.
  • Validate custom OS images for both new and existing systems.
  • Work closely with product teams to qualify new systems and OS images.

Operations - IT Systems Support:

  • Address ongoing IT system and computer hardware-related issues.
  • Participate in engineering change processes as needed.
  • Assist in identifying root causes of IT infrastructure problems.
  • Clarify new or existing processes for support personnel.

Commissioning/Service - IT Systems Support:

  • Assist commissioning and service teams in finding replacement solutions for legacy system components.
  • Develop service replacement kits, including documentation, to facilitate the implementation of technical solutions at customer sites.
  • Specify hardware Field Replacement Units (FRUs) where applicable.
  • Report any quality issues to management for corrective action.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Training, and Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with Windows OS (server and workstation) and Active Directory.
  • Experience with Windows imaging tools like MDT.
  • Strong background in configuring and troubleshooting Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware is a plus.
  • Experience in securing Windows environments to CIS or similar hardening standards.
  • Advanced networking skills, including VLAN, VPN, and Firewall configurations.
  • Proven experience in network infrastructure design.
  • Experience with Cisco networking equipment or CCNA certification is preferred.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Stoke, 5 days a week.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise workloads.
  • Detail-oriented with a systematic approach to work.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, and proactive in taking initiative.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for software, firmware, and hardware.
  • Comfortable working in non-office environments, including production floors, demo areas, and site locations, requiring the use of PPE.
