The Job

Senior Residential Support Worker

  • To be conversant with the homes statement of purpose, function and management and to provide a level of care and service that meets Regulatory and Company expectations and standards.

  • To work within all policies and procedures and to promote these within the staff team.  
  • To work collaboratively will colleagues to ensure that all Young People have care plans and to develop, implement and review packages of care
  • To work as a member of a team, ensuring that the reception, on-going care and discharge of Young People is undertaken in accordance with the statutory framework and policies & procedures of the organisation
  • To work with the Manager in the induction and mentoring of individual staff, shift preparation and the team as a whole.
  • To support the staff in their direct work with the young people and to ensure that this work is in collaboration with local authorities, therapy and education, to enable an effective integration of services.
  • To undertake routine administrative tasks and provide written reports, including Review, Progress and Incident reports
  • To take responsibility for writing reports and overseeing the content of written reports for the statutory reviews and follow up review recommendations.
  • To develop a responsible attitude with residents with regard to the fabric, furnishings, equipment, supplies and services in/or to the establishment and to support them in all domestic aspects of both their own personal space and communal areas of the establishment.

Deputy Manager

  • To fulfil the role of the Deputy Manager within the home, this may include travel within the UK.
  • To support on the delivery off the content of the Certificate of Registration and the Statement of Purpose for the establishment.
  • To ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations (2015) and the Quality Standards.
  • To create a positive and supportive culture within the staff team.
  • To have line management responsibilities for a staff team, ensuring that all staff receive appropriate induction, supervision and appraisal.
  • As a supervisor of care staff, oversee the provision of professional supervision for staff with the registered manager.
  • To monitor on-going expenditure, and to report to the Registered Manager.
  • To ensure that staff operate the petty cash system within the required guidelines.
  • To ensure that the home environment is safe and that is complies with all health and safety and legal requirements.
  • To regularly inspect the condition of the structure, fabric, furnishings and fittings of the building to ensure that all necessary equipment, etc. is in good working order and of a reasonable and acceptable standard of repair.
  • To ensure that all resources and equipment are in good working order (including Company vehicles).
  • To participate in the on-call rota.

Person Specification:

  • Senior: 1.5 years of experience within residential childcare / Deputy; 3 years of experience within residential childcare
  • Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare started or equivalent
  • Willing to work towards level 5
  • Willing to work a 1 on 2 off rota, Typical shift pattern in 8am – 11pm with sleep included (+£50)
  • Ability to work in nearby homes where required to support the wider business needs
  • Sound knowledge of governing legislation, procedures and best practice in caring for children
  • Ability to facilitate team-working
  • Ability to motivate staff teams
