Supply Staff is seeking experienced Senior Support Workers, to be the shift leader for teams supporting children in crisis, helping make a profound difference in thier lives. In this vital role, you will lead by example, guiding and mentoring a team of support workers to deliver the highest quality of care.

As a Senior Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership and Mentorship: You’ll provide guidance and support to your team, ensuring they have the tools and confidence to excel in their roles.
  • Overseeing Care Plans: You’ll take the lead in ensuring the care plan is implamented.
  • Collaboration: You’ll coordinate with other professionals, ensuring a cohesive approach to care that adheres to best practices.
  • Implementation of Best Practices: Your experience and knowledge will be key in maintaining and enhancing the standards of care we provide.

Skills Needed:

  • Communication: Strong communication skills are essential for interacting effectively with young people, your team, and other professionals.
  • Patience: As a leader, you’ll need to model patience in challenging situations, setting the tone for the team.
  • Empathy: A deep understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people is crucial.
  • Organisational Skills: Overseeing care plans and coordinating with multiple stakeholders requires strong organisational abilities.
  • Reliability: You’ll be a pillar of support for both the children in your care and the team you lead.
  • Resilience: The ability to remain composed and adaptable in the face of challenges is vital.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Significant UK experience working with Looked After Children of secondary school age, with a proven track record in a leadership or senior role.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or higher) is highly desirable.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
  • Ability to provide references covering at least the last 3 years, with a minimum of 2 professional references.
  • A comprehensive CV accounting for all periods since finishing secondary school, with explanations for any gaps in employment over 1 month.
  • An overseas police check if you have lived or worked abroad for 6 months or more at any time in the last 10 years while aged 18 or older.
