I am working with a dynamic and inclusive multi-campus further education institution, dedicated to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for both students and staff. We are passionate about ensuring that every student, regardless of their individual needs, receives the tailored support necessary to succeed. We are now seeking an experienced and motivated SENCo to lead our efforts in providing high-quality, individualized learning programmes for students with additional needs.

The Role:
As the SENCo, your primary focus will be on ensuring that students with additional needs receive the appropriate support and are provided with personalized learning programmes. This non-teaching role centers on staff management, leadership, and close collaboration with various stakeholders to create a thriving inclusive educational environment. You will be instrumental in driving the college's SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) strategy across all campuses, ensuring that every student is empowered to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SEND team, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where staff are encouraged to grow and excel.
  • Develop and oversee individualized support and learning programmes for students with SEND, ensuring these plans meet each student's unique needs.
  • Provide leadership and training to teaching and support staff, enhancing their ability to deliver inclusive education and effectively support diverse learning needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEND, making adjustments to interventions as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Work closely with students, parents, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and collaborative support is provided.
  • Stay informed about current SEND legislation and best practices, ensuring the college remains compliant and at the forefront of inclusive education.
  • Report regularly to senior leadership on the effectiveness of SEND provision, using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement.

About You:
We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable professional who is passionate about supporting students with additional needs. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Essential:

    • Significant experience in a SENCo or similar role within an educational setting.
    • Proven ability to develop and manage individualized support and learning programmes.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in overseeing staff and coordinating multi-campus initiatives.
    • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders.
  • Desirable:

    • NASENCo (National Award for SEN Coordination) qualification.
    • Experience in a further education setting.
