Job Title: DevOps Engineer

Location: Manchester, UK

Applause IT are hiring for a DevOps Engineer for a prestigious company based in Manchester. At this organisation, you will have the opportunity to work on advanced solutions for world-class clients and contribute proactively to client projects and open source initiatives. You will be involved across the entire software delivery lifecycle, from requirements capture and estimation to system and software design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet high-quality standards.
  • Design and implement continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot production systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain security measures.
  • Define and implement best practices for infrastructure and automation tools like IaC (Infrastructure as Code) or Immutable Infrastructure.
  • Participate in design, development, and code reviews.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging DevOps trends and technologies.

Skills and Experience:

  • Willingness to grasp new technical concepts and learn new skills.
  • Clear and effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle pressure, uncertainty, and deadlines.
  • Good coding skills.
  • Experience with some of the following:
  • Working with free and open source software (FOSS)
  • Linux, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Rust
  • Cloud Services: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
  • Configuration management tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • Server templating tools: Packer, Vagrant, Docker/Podman
  • Orchestration tools: Kubernetes, Nomad
  • Provisioning tools: Terraform, Pulumi
  • CI/CD Systems: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions
  • Security best practices
