Fairmead Recruitment is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Quantity Surveyor in Peterborough on behalf of a valued client, a leading construction firm with extensive experience in high-quality commercial projects. This role will involve working on a design and build office block near Huntingdon, valued at £8 million. As a well-known contractor, the client is part of established frameworks across East Anglia. They work within the public sector, including schools, hospitals, and offices. The client has built up an extensive portfolio of successfully completed commercial projects in the East of England, with projects typically ranging between £2-20 million in value. This role is integral to ensuring the financial success and efficiency of their projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects from inception through to completion.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering exercises to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor project costs continuously, identifying any deviations from budget and implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit interim and final payment applications to clients, ensuring timely and accurate billing.
  • Assess and negotiate variations and claims, maintaining accurate project cost records and preparing final accounts.
  • Provide regular financial updates and reports to senior management, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on budget and meet all quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of cost management principles.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field, ideally accredited by RICS.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using industry-standard software for cost estimation and management.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
