Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Service/Department: EBD (Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties) – Ages 7-17 upon admission
Reports to: Responsible Individual

Terms and Conditions
  • Hours: 37.5 per week
  • Salary Range: £38,000 – £43,000 per annum
  • Holidays: 28 days
  • Employment Status: Full-time
  • Probationary Period: 6 months
  • Notice Period: 3 months (12 weeks)

Job Purpose

As the Residential Children’s Home Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and operation of a children’s home. You will ensure that high standards of care are maintained, and that children and young people receive a positive, safe, and nurturing environment that meets their emotional and developmental needs. You will hold registration with Ofsted and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes for the children in your care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of the children's home in line with the home's Statement of Purpose.
  • Lead and manage staff, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement individualized care and placement plans for each child, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards 2015, and safeguarding policies.
  • Foster strong relationships with the community, external agencies, families, and other stakeholders to support each child's holistic development.
  • Monitor the quality of care, produce required reports, and ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Promote a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion within the home.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualifications:
    • QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare or Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce.
    • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (or willingness to work towards this).
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in a residential care setting for children.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
    • Proven track record of achieving 'Good' or 'Outstanding' ratings in Ofsted inspections.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop staff.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to manage stress and complex dynamics.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and the specific needs of children with EBD.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and a non-discriminatory environment.
