Senior Town Planner | Associate Town Planner

The Role:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Town Planner or Associate Town Planner to join the team in Chippenham. In this role, you will play a key part in managing a wide variety of planning projects, guiding clients through the planning process from initial consultation to successful project completion. You will work closely with a dedicated team of planners and consultants, contributing to the development of strategic plans and delivering high-quality planning applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage planning applications, appeals, and site assessments across various sectors including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
  • Provide expert planning advice to clients, stakeholders, and colleagues, ensuring all projects meet regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Conduct research, analyse data, and prepare comprehensive planning reports and documents.
  • Liaise with local authorities, community groups, and other stakeholders to facilitate project approvals.
  • Mentor and support junior planners, helping to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Stay up-to-date with planning policies, regulations, and market trends, and apply this knowledge to project work.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards it.
  • Proven experience in a planning consultancy or local authority role.
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Proactive and commercially aware, with a strong focus on delivering results.
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel as required.
