Trainee QA Technician

Location: Birstwith, UK
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Hours: Initially 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Transitioning to 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM after training)
Contract: Full-time, with potential to become a permanent position after probation
Holidays: 28 days

We are seeking a motivated QA Technician to join our team at the Birstwith site. This is an exciting opportunity to start a career in the food industry with no prior experience required – we will provide all necessary training.
Key Responsibilities:

Product Control & Testing:
- Perform raw material testing as per site schedule; monitor and trend results.
- Retain samples of finished products and raw materials as per requirements.
- Conduct finished product testing in line with company and customer standards.
- Coordinate timely testing of swabs, raw materials, and finished products.
- Upload and review testing results in SAP; support trend analysis.
- Check daily stock reports from K&N.

Product Release:
- Ensure all raw materials are accompanied by the correct documentation.
- Work cross-functionally for prompt release of products in SAP.
- Complete Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and Certificates of Compliance (CoCs) for finished products, ensuring accuracy in line with customer specifications.

Non-conformance Management:
- Raise and manage Z1 non-conformances in SAP for non-conforming raw materials.
- Escalate and assist in corrective actions for any non-conforming products.

Sensory Evaluation & Quality Inspection:
- Manage retained samples and perform routine food safety and quality inspections.
- Conduct factory audits and inspections, logging non-conformances.
- Provide support to departments during audits to ensure understanding of required standards.
- Carry out scheduled audits such as glass, perspex, knife, balance, fridge temperature, and snap trap checks.

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP):
- Collaborate to improve factory standards and support continuous improvement projects.
- Assist in building a stronger quality culture on site.

Ordering:
- Raise purchase orders and manage technical consumable orders within budgetary constraints.
Requirements:
- Good GCSE/A Level qualifications.
- No prior QA or food industry experience is necessary; full training will be provided.
- Own transport is required due to the site's remote location.
