Tendering Engineer- South of Aberdeen

The Role

The Tendering Engineer is responsible for the provision of tendering and proposal activities, with a focus on New Builds & AME opportunities. This position sits within the Engineering Solutions Business Unit reporting to the Tendering Manager. The Tendering Engineer will have a critical role from initial enquiry to post-contract completion and will be responsible for the creation of high-calibre proposals, costing models, CTR’s, production schedules and providing support to the Engineering Solutions Tendering Manager, Sales Representatives and Key Account Managers.

Responsibilities

Digest and interpret client requirements within enquiries and RFQs.

Support bid / no bid justification.

Handle and prioritise incoming RFQ’s.

Managing Proposals within the Company CRM. (Sales Force)

Demonstrably Managing and Prioritising All Live Proposals.

Building Costing Models / CTRs.

Creation of project execution schedules to support bids when required.

Creation of proposal document including technical details necessary to satisfy the client tender requirements.

Presentation of proposal and commercial detail to Engineering Solutions Tendering Manager and Senior Management prior to submission, when required.

Support in the close out of bid clarifications.

Collation and submission of complete bid documentation packages ready for client submission.

Identify risks and opportunities during the bid process.

Perform / participate in BD project handover meetings as required.

Reading and understanding of technical drawings, schematics and BOMs.

Collaboration with Subject Matter Experts and Stakeholders. (HSEQ, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Contracts, etc.)

Manage and update tendering task plans.

Liaising with Internal Stakeholders for Comprehensive Input.

Liaising with Key Account Managers.

Locate, review, and collate technical, cost and resource data from previous company builds.

Liaise with suppliers as required.

Continuous Process Improvement.

Requirements

Professional Experience & Skills

  • Proposal Writing: Experience in crafting detailed and persuasive proposals gained through a similar tendering role.
  • Project Management: Background in managing projects, particularly in planning and execution phases preferably related to new-build equipment.
  • Client Relations: Experience in liaising with clients and understanding their needs.
  • Financial Acumen: Proficiency in building cost models and understanding pricing strategies.
  • CRM Management: Experience using Customer Relationship Management systems for tracking proposals. (Sales Force or similar)
  • Document Management: Skilled in managing and organizing proposal documentation.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyse and interpret client requirements and market trends.
  • IT Proficiency: Highly Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Projects.

Educational Background

  • Relevant Degree: Bachelor’s degree level education in a relevant Engineering or Business field.
  • Industry Knowledge: knowledge in engineering and a desire to learn about the intricacies of equipment within the Offshore Oil & Gas and Renewables industries.
  • Sector-Specific Experience: Understanding of the Energy Sector Oil & Gas and Renewables.
  • Market Trends Awareness: Keeping abreast of trends and developments within the industry.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.
