Your new role
The role involves the investigation, examination, negotiation, and settlement of credit insurance claims. While the primary focus is on construction claims made by subcontractors and suppliers, there will also be a need to assess claims in other industries. Full training will be provided for candidates with prior construction experience or knowledge.

  • Examine and assess submitted claims, making settlements within agreed authority schedules and specified timescales.
  • Set up, review, and pay claims using bespoke IT systems.
  • Record and monitor insolvency dates forming the claim event
  • Assess opportunities to mitigate losses and follow up with ongoing communication.
  • Analytically assess claims, applying judgement to uncertified applications and final accounts.
  • Calculate reserves and input data into the claim's system.
  • Confirm insolvency events, collect loss information, and record it.
  • Liaise with Insolvency Practitioners and external stakeholders.
  • Identify fraudulent claims.
  • Attend creditors' meetings, assist with proof of debt and proxies, and follow up on dividends.
  • Report concerns to Risk/Underwriters for limit/cover reviews.
  • Inform management of potential large losses and record them on the department's tracking spreadsheet
  • Handle general email and telephone queries.
  • File claims documentation in a paperless system, keeping records up to date.
  • Liaise with underwriters and advise policyholders on claims procedures and cover.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as instructed by the Claims Manager.
  • Ensure a professional and fair approach at all times.
  • Actively seek better ways to do things.
  • Manage client and broker relationships as required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a confident telephone manner
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to assess complex matters and report succinctly.
  • Flexible, proactive attitude and team player.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • The ability to work on his own initiative.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and challenge the norm
