Salary/Rate:
£60,000 - £80,000/annum pension + healthcare

Responsible for ensuring Electrical and Control Designs are completed in compliance with

applicable Regulations and Standards, including

o Conducting Machinery Safety Risk Assessments

o Functional Safety Review

o ISO 13849 Verification (calculation)

o Documenting outcomes and managing non-conformances

 Responsible for delivering all aspects of Electrical Design of new equipment, from design

concepts, through manufacturing drawings, to testing and commissioning

 Ensures compliant and safe delivery of hardware build on-site, including supplier &

contractor management and installation approval / sign-off

 Provides Control and Instrumentation input to the Process Engineering team, to design

new manufacturing processes and control systems

 Supports process development projects with input regarding instrumentation and control

component requirements, selection and integration

 Writes/Develops and maintains control systems and documentation, such as ladder logic

code, logic diagrams, function block diagrams, SCADA interfaces, input and output lists

 Analyzes EC&I (incl software) requirements to determine feasibility of design within time

and cost constraints

 Consults with other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and

software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system

 Uses analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and

consequences of control system design.

 Trains electrical, controls & instrumentation engineers

Essential

 Demonstrable experience delivering machinery electrical design packages from concept to

delivery, including ensuring machinery safety in design.

 Familiarity with the following:

• ISO 13849

• IEC 60204

• BS 7671

• ISO 12100

• IEC 60364

• ISO 13850

 A BSc degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical or similar engineering, or equivalent level

of experience

 The ability to perform engineering mathematical calculations, such as electrical power,

heat and flow

 Competent computer skills such as excel formulae, visio and CAD drafting software (SW

and SW Electrical preferred)

 Ability to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and handle multiple tasks

under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions

 The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other

individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the

organization, in a business-like and professional manner is required

 Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues. Quickly and efficiently completes

tasks

Desirable

 Qualified, trained or experienced in technical disciplines related to the job such as

Electrical, Control theory, Industrial or Chemical Equipment design, Real-time Control,

Programming,

 Experience in related industrial areas such as chemical plant, industrial equipment design

 Experience with Siemens PLC equipment

 TUV certification or an internationally recognised equivalent

 Be legally authorized to work in the UK without company sponsorship now or in the

future.

 First aid, CPR, Fire Warden certification
