We're looking for a Building Surveyor to work for our client.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Building  Surveyor to work within one of three multidisciplinary area teams, administering the full range of Building Regulations functions.
This role focuses on both large, complex, and non-complex projects within a designated geographical area under the direction of the Principal Building Control Officer (Team Leader).

Key Responsibilities:
 
Definition of Large Non-Complex Projects:
Involves the construction of major new high-profile developments and whole building refurbishments of any size or height across all types of use. "Non-complex" refers to projects adhering to National standards without incorporating innovative, complex fire engineering or structural engineering concepts.
 
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The duties listed below are representative of the role and are not exhaustive or shown in order of priority:
 
Compliance Meetings:
Participate in meetings to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations 2010, guiding developers, architects, and designers throughout all stages of building design and construction.

Plan Vetting:

Review and vet plans, details, reports, calculations, and other submitted materials for compliance with the Building Regulations. Draft Consents/Approvals, letters, and emails in response on behalf of the District Surveyor.

Consultations:

Liaise with specialist colleagues, internal divisions, and external statutory bodies regarding proposals before issuing Consents or Approvals.

Site Inspections:

Conduct site inspections of ongoing works to verify compliance with the Building Regulations. Communicate deficiencies to the Contractor/Client that require further action.

Final Inspections & Certification:

Perform final inspections and coordinate commissioning testing with the Contractor/Consultant/In-house M&E Specialist. Issue Building Regulations Completion Certificates on behalf of the District Surveyor.

Specialist Knowledge:

Preferably possess well-developed expertise in a specialised field such as Fire or Structural Engineering, fire precautions, fire risk assessments, cladding systems, etc.

Electronic Systems & Record Keeping:

Familiarise oneself with the office’s electronic operating systems and maintain accurate records of actions taken, including site inspections and time recording.

Client Partnerships:

Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, developers, and their professional teams, delivering high standards of customer care. Contribute to the Division’s marketing activities, such as website editing, brochure and leaflet development, and encouraging Partnerships under the LABC scheme.

Enforcement Records:

Keep accurate records, especially where enforcement action is being considered.

Quality Management:

Execute duties in alignment with the Quality Management System.

Regulatory Knowledge:

Review statutory, regulatory, and technical standards, including new or revised regulations, to maintain an updated knowledge base and contribute to procedural improvements.

Section 30 & Licensing Applications:

Manage applications under Section 30 of the London Building Acts (Amendment) Act 1939 and/or Marriage Act licensing applications on behalf of the Town Clerk.

Supervision:

Supervise/oversee the work of Class 1 & 2 Registered Building Inspectors (RBIs) within the team, assisting the Class 3 RBI with work on complex projects.

Additional Duties:

Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be requested, appropriate to the grade.

Code of Conduct Compliance:

Perform duties in accordance with the Code of Conduct and Operational Standard Rules as issued by the HSE/BSR.

Health and Safety:

Actively implement the City of London’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy concerning the post's duties, ensuring the health and safety of oneself and others.
