About the Role:

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Child Protection Chair to join their Safeguarding, Review, and Quality Assurance Team. This role offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children within the borough. If you have a strong background in child protection and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safeguarding, this position is ideal for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chair child protection conferences, ensuring that all decisions are made in the best interests of the child.
  • Monitor and review child protection plans to ensure they are effective and responsive to the needs of the child.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to social workers and other professionals involved in safeguarding children.
  • Ensure that the views of children, families, and carers are central to the decision-making process.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of conferences and decisions, in line with statutory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to promote best practices in safeguarding.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of safeguarding services within the borough.

Requirements:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Extensive experience in child protection, including chairing complex meetings and conferences.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a demanding workload.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
