Hatched recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a Senior Accountant (Pensions & Treasury) in the Haringey area.

To support the Head of Pensions and Treasury in the provision of accounting and reporting services for the authority's pension fund and treasury management functions including the preparation of pension fund annual accounts and treasury management notes to the Council's statement of accounts.

The post holder will support the Council's day to day pension fund and treasury management activities including daily cashflow management and providing the necessary instructions and information to treasury advisors and pension fund service providers including the fund's investment and actuarial advisors.

Key Responsibilities:
Pensions Accounting:

Manage pension fund accounting, including the preparation and reconciliation of pension fund statements.
Oversee the calculation and disbursement of pension payments.
Ensure compliance with pension regulations and reporting requirements.


Treasury Management:

Manage treasury functions including cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and investment tracking.
Monitor and report on liquidity, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational and capital requirements.
Liaise with banks and financial institutions to manage and optimize the organization's financial assets.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and present financial reports related to pensions and treasury, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.

Audit and Compliance:

Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Implement and monitor compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.

Team Leadership:

Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
Ensure continuous improvement in processes and systems related to pensions and treasury functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • years of experience in accounting, with a focus on pensions and/or treasury functions.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
