Our client is a well established and successful manufacturer.  They are looking for a Quality Manager with Health Safety & Environmental experience join the company.

As a QHSE / HSEQ / QESH Manager, you will be a vital member of the Senior Leadership team.  You will be instrumental in steering strategic initiatives to ensure the company exceeds expectations in quality, safety, and environmental compliance, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will manage the company’s ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 systems, with a strong focus on quality management and ISO 9001. You will also be responsible for overseeing compliance with EN 1090, ensuring that steel and aluminium structures meet the necessary standards. This role emphasizes the importance of maintaining and improving product quality and process efficiency in a manufacturing environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring that the company consistently meets its high standards for quality, while also ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations..

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Primary Focus on ISO 9001 Quality Management: Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS). Ensure that all quality management processes are aligned with ISO 9001 and drive improvements in manufacturing quality and customer satisfaction.
  • EN 1090 Compliance: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of EN 1090 EXC Class 2 standards for steel and aluminium structures, ensuring that all processes and outputs comply with structural component regulations. You will manage the company’s adherence to these standards and ensure that all documentation and procedures are in place for sustained compliance.
  • Strategic Leadership in Quality: Develop and implement strategic quality objectives that align with the company’s broader business goals. Lead initiatives to improve product quality, reduce defects, and enhance overall manufacturing efficiency, ensuring ISO 9001 remains at the core of all quality-related activities.
  • Management of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Systems: In addition to ISO 9001, you will oversee the company’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 45001 Health and Safety systems, ensuring all three are integrated and effective across operations.
  • Manufacturing Quality Expertise: Use your experience in manufacturing to ensure quality control processes are robust and tailored to the specific needs of the production environment. Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure processes align with the highest standards of manufacturing excellence.
  • Internal and External Audits: Plan and manage internal and external audits, with a particular focus on ISO 9001 and EN 1090 compliance. You will also support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits, ensuring that all systems are compliant with industry standards and regulations.
  • CAPA and Continuous Improvement: Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), ensuring non-conformances are addressed effectively and that the business continually improves its quality management processes.
  • Training and Culture Development: Foster a quality-focused culture across the organization by developing training programs on ISO 9001 and EN 1090 standards. Ensure that all employees are engaged in quality initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, EN 1090, and other relevant industry regulations. Stay informed of regulatory changes and ensure that the company’s systems are up to date.
  • Equipment and Process Quality Monitoring: Oversee equipment maintenance and calibrations to meet quality and safety standards, implementing processes to monitor quality control across all manufacturing operations.
  • Industry Accreditation: Maintain key industry accreditations, including Constructionline, CHAS, and Safe Contractor, ensuring ongoing compliance with ISO certifications, EN 1090, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel within the UK is required to conduct audits, attend client meetings, and visit project sites. A full UK driving license is essential.

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on ISO 9001.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience managing ISO 9001 systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience managing integrated QESH systems: including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and EN 1090.
  • Internal Auditor Qualification in ISO 9001 is essential, with additional qualifications in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or EN 1090 desirable.
  • Lead Auditor Qualification in ISO 9001 or ISO 45001 is highly desirable.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate is desirable.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record in continuous improvement.
  • Full UK driving license.
