Centre of Excellence Controller

Our client’s AOG team is an operationally critical business unit that ensure their customers' AOG aircraft are recovered in a safe, compliant and efficient way by leveraging capability within our client’s network and third-party service providers. 

The Centre of Excellence Controller will provide an improved customer experience by introducing a single point of contact for managing communications across the network, enhancing their AOG management and response, and strengthening the company’s strategic position within the aviation market by offering a premium MRO service. 

Centre of Excellence Controller - Job Accountabilities Operation 

  • Provide a bespoke solution to a customer’s AOG occurrence. 
  • Produce AOG recovery plans detailing the recovery timeline, estimated serviceability date/time and allocated resources.
  • Managing AOG events globally, providing support to ensure safe and efficient and effective recovery to minimise impact for customers. 
  • Maintaining a dynamic feedback loop to ensure timely, regular and accurate communication to all internal and external key stakeholders. 
  • To assist the operations manager with the daily operation of the Centre of Excellence department and supporting the day-to-day operation. 
  • Have commercial awareness of the impact that decisions can have to the customer and to the business as a whole. 

Compliance 

  • Ensuring standard operating procedures are complied with and maintained through an AOG recovery. 
  • Maintain awareness of company Health & Safety policy and to ensure that staff deployed under their control practice approved methods to minimise risk to personnel or equipment. 
  • Uphold the company’s policy on the KYC and approved supplier. 

Cost 

  • Recording of cost expenditure during the AOG recovery for invoicing to the customer. 
  • Raising purchase requisitions Procurement, Logistics and Administration 
  • Assisting with planning and booking of flights and transport. 
  • Assisting with the procurement of standard parts, C&E and tooling 
  • Co-ordinate with internal business units and external suppliers, as deemed necessary, to support an AOG recovery.

Communication and Working Relationships 

  • Internal Senior Management: The Centre of Excellence Controller shall provide high level update and information to Senior Management as required. 
  • Mid-Management: The Centre of Excellence Controller shall provide specialist technical, regulatory and safety advice to mid-management. 
  • Lower levels: The Centre of Excellence Controller shall provide specialist technical, regulatory and safety direction to operational and support staff.

Operating Environment 

The role is based in an office environment at London Gatwick Airport. The normal working day is between 07:00 and 19:00 working a 4/5/5-shift pattern. 30 minutes is provided for lunch. The role may be required to travel to the AOG location to provide onsite management and support as required. 

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge 

  • A recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or similar, or Qualified Part66 Licence with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, or University degree relevant to Aircraft Engineering or aviation management. 
  • Experience and Knowledge 
  • Technical experience in aviation.

Competitive / £62k basic, plus additional for licence etc

Qualification & Education:

Experience and Knowledge 

  • Technical experience in aviation. 
  • Have a working knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Production Planning. 
  • Experience of leading changes and delivering productivity and operational improvement. 
  • Ability to build strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Trustworthy with the ability to work under pressure.

7am - 7pm (5,5,4 shift pattern)
