The Role:

As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons that inspire a love of literature and language across Key Stages 3, 4, and possibly Key Stage 5. You will play a pivotal role in developing students' reading, writing, and analytical skills, preparing them for success both in exams and in their future endeavors. The ideal candidate will be passionate about English, have a strong track record of successful teaching, and be eager to contribute to the department’s ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress, providing timely feedback to support their development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that motivates students to engage and succeed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and resources.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, such as book clubs, writing workshops, or school productions.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, supporting its ethos and values.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in English or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching English at secondary school level, with a thorough understanding of the UK curriculum.
  • A passion for literature and language, with the ability to inspire students of all abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a collaborative approach to teaching.
