Job Title: Consultant in Public Health

Salary: £92,011 to £100,801 Per annum

Panoramic Associates are supporting Lancashire County Council to recruit a Consultant in Public Health for the Maternal, Children, Family Health and Wellbeing portfolio.

Lancashire is a ceremonial county in Northwest England. The administrative centre of Lancashire County Council is Preston. The county has a population of over 1.2 million and an area of 1,189 square miles

Lancashire County Council is undergoing an exciting period of transformation, as we seek to become a more effective and more efficient organisation at a time when demand for services is growing and the available resources are limited. We remain committed to our job of serving the people of Lancashire by providing first class services and by making the County an even better place to live and work.

Lancashire County Council is looking to appoint to a Consultant in Public Health on a permanent basis, for a candidate who in addition to proficient technical capability is a proven system leader, committed to tackling health inequalities and to leading a successful programme of public health responsibility within Local Government and the NHS.

The role

The successful candidate will bring energy, drive and innovation to make a difference, working through the challenges to improve outcomes for people in Lancashire.

The role will involve directing the work of a Head of Service function area, act as the lead for an identified public health programme and be a key member of the senior public health leadership team.

Lead Public Health areas of responsibility will be negotiated in a job plan but at the time of appointment it is expected that the role will focus on Maternal, Children, Family Health and Wellbeing.

The successful candidate will bring energy, drive and innovation to make a difference, working through the challenges to improve outcomes for people in Lancashire.

The post holder will work in co-operation with other colleagues within Public Health, council directorates, the Integrated Care Board, the wider NHS and the voluntary sector, and will need to establish and maintain a wide range of working relationships. The post holder will need to develop a good understanding of the context of services in the county which impact on health and health inequalities.

We invite applications from individuals on the GMC/GDC Specialist Register/UK Voluntary Register for Public Health Specialists who are skilled at managing relationships and negotiating across a wide range of organisations, who understand the challenges faced by local authorities and the Health Service, and who will display strong leadership in contributing to the work of our dynamic public health team.

To discuss the role or apply, please contact Maisie Hockings or Rebecca Martin.
