Company Overview:

We are a specialist career transition company dedicated to helping individuals identify and launch their next careers. We have an exciting opportunity to join a large national organization that maintains a local feel and is recognized as an armed forces-friendly employer.

This role offers a perfect transitional opportunity for service leavers to gain exposure within the commercial world while working alongside fellow veterans, providing a comfortable and semi-familiar environment. If you have served in the UK Armed Forces and are looking to embark on your next career, this position could be the ideal fit for you.

Those with practical experience using machinery, tools, or working in hands-on roles will be well-suited for the General Labor/Installer role. While being a service leaver or veteran is not essential, your transferable skills, such as attention to detail, discipline, and adaptability, will be highly advantageous in this role.

Role and Responsibilities:

We’re seeking a motivated General Labor/Installer who shares the company ethos of honesty, responsibility, passion, and commitment. The ideal candidate should be comfortable using machinery and equipment, as well as being hands-on and adaptable to the company's methods and processes.

As a candidate for this role, you will be required to work both individually and as part of a team, demonstrating a professional attitude when dealing with clients. Attention to detail is essential—whether it’s reading drawings, following installation paperwork, taking instructions from management, or ensuring the correct appearance and use of company clothing.

In this role, you will be expected to learn new skills, assist in project installations, and ensure that all projects meet company standards for safety and quality. The role involves physical labor, operating power tools and machinery, and may include traveling across the UK, with the potential for future overseas work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Share and embody the company’s values of honesty, responsibility, passion, and commitment
  • Operate machinery and equipment (including power tools, forklifts, piling rigs, and construction equipment)
  • Ensure project installation meets client expectations and follows technical drawings and safety standards
  • Maintain detailed documentation (e.g., H&S paperwork, installation paperwork)
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and management
  • Adhere to company processes, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs)
  • Complete after-project paperwork and ensure tasks are completed to a high standard
  • Maintain professional appearance and use the correct company clothing

Must Have:

  • Driving license and access to own vehicle to get to HQ
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and potentially overseas in the future
  • Hands-on experience with machinery and construction equipment
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail (reading drawings, completing paperwork, adhering to company standards)
  • Adaptability to learn new skills and follow company processes
  • Professional demeanor when dealing with clients
  • Comfortable with a 40-50 hour workweek, including travel time

Wish List:

  • Experience in mechanical engineering, groundworks, civils, or landscaping
  • 7.5T lorry license (minimum)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and complete H&S paperwork
  • Solution-oriented with the ability to troubleshoot
  • Experience with setting out and marking up, using lasers and leveling equipment
  • Thorough understanding of site safety practices
  • Experience in operating 360 excavators and other plant machinery
  • Welding experience
