SF Recruitment are pleased to be working in exclusive partnership with a leading acquisitive and growing international group (approx £350m t/o) to support their UK business in recruiting for a UK Head of Finance (no.1 role).

This is a key appointment for the organisation, requiring strong business partnering & consolidation skills to enable effective information sharing with Group HQ based overseas in Europe, leading on all financial matters (including compliance and governance) for 2x UK entities (Ltd companies), overseeing a self-sufficient and effective small UK finance team.

About the business

Our client is a leading, international manufacturing and service business with a global staff cohort of approx. 1,500 staff, 3x internationally based specialised manufacturing sites, a European HQ and a customer base worldwide. The UK business is structured as 3 separate Ltd companies operating as part of the group predominantly providing specialist services to the UK market with a strong, growing client cohort.

About the role

Reporting to the VP - Finance based overseas, your role acts as the finance lead for 3x UK entities, acting as the main point of contact for all related financial matters for local management but also for the consolidation team at Group level. You will have a holistic view on the organization and processes, acting as the main liaison between the operational accounting teams (SLT, Middle Office and local). You will also ensure the correct consolidation and presentation of the financial data for both internal and external reporting.

Key responsibilities include:
- Understand financial KPI's (profitability, Opex, Capex, working capital, cash flow, etc)
- Understand financial aspects of an international environment sometimes combined with a manufacturing organisation
- Provide insight and highlight trends in financial data and supporting analysis, working closely with local management to maximise profitability
- Responsible for the monthly closing process respecting the group accounting principles and in line with IFRS and local GAAP
- Reconcile transactional data and management reporting
- Identify potential risks and propose solutions
- Analyse balance sheet and accounts with attention to detail and accuracy
- Point of contact for local tax authorities
- Prepare and file local annual accounts
- Prepare and file local tax declarations (corporate and others)
- Point of contact for internal and external audit
- Local finance representative in ad hoc projects;
- Ensure compliance with internal and external guidelines and legislation
- Direct and indirect management of a small, self sufficient and long-standing team of people within the UK
- Close cooperation with European shared services, stakeholders, management, audit teams, finance partners, middle office

About you

You will be a qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) accountant with prior strong experience reporting in an internationally based, complex structured organisation. The ideal industry background of the successful candidate will be that of a consumables driven business - prior manufacturing experience is not required.

You will be able to demonstrate outstanding communication skills (both written & verbal), alongside sound working knowledge of MS Office suite (365) including Excel, as well as being a competent user of finance systems (group utilise SAP with UK entities currently operating on SAGE).

Solid knowledge of systems and processes alongside the ability to develop and implement new procedures or to adapt existing procedures to meet the specialised needs of the business are required as part of this role, as well as being able to take end-to-end ownership within the UK business and also take indirect leadership and accountability for the resulting financial information. 

The ideal candidate will be process driven and have strong analytical skills and problem solving skills, be detail oriented, organised and accurate with the drive to take on and resolve challenges as they occur, acting as a key ally and team player to Group finance.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who has strong consolidation and IFRS reporting skill-set looking to enhance or bolster their CV on the upward curve in their career.

Occasional travel overseas will be required (approximately 1/2 times per annum).

  • Salary c.£60,000 p/a. A car allowance can be made available as part of the package in exchange for a proportion of salary (total value approx £60-65,000 p/a)
