Housing Support Assistant

Becky at JT Recruit is seeking a Housing Support Assistant based in Derby City Centre outlines a temporary, part-time role supporting various housing services.

You will be required to provide comprehensive service delivery support for the DASH (Decent and Safe Homes), Disabled Facilities, Right to Buy, Energy Efficiency and Handyperson services

Undertake accounts, budgetary and other support duties within Strategic Housing and the Housing Options Centre services

Key Responsibilities:

Comprehensive Service Delivery Support:

Provide administrative and support services for the following:

DASH (Decent and Safe Homes): A Private Rented Sector (PRS) service aimed at improving housing standards, supported by Derby City Council for multiple local authorities.

Disabled Facilities: Likely involves helping manage grants or services for home modifications for people with disabilities.

Right to Buy: Administration related to tenants buying their council homes.

Energy Efficiency & Handyperson Services: Potentially coordinating small repair or home improvement services for eligible individuals.

Support for Strategic Housing & Housing Options Centre:

Handle accounts and budgetary tasks for these departments.

Assist in the financial monitoring and annual closing of accounts, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records.

Participate in producing performance management data, tracking service outcomes, and measuring key performance indicators.

Customer Service and Communication:

Provide accurate advice in response to both internal and external inquiries. This includes written and verbal communication.

Allocate service requests to relevant staff and maintain effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders, such as other council departments or partner agencies.

Record Management:

Maintain both manual and electronic records accurately, particularly in relation to financial data.

Ensure timely processing of applications and payments.

Support invoicing and credit note issuance for both internal and external customers.

Budget Monitoring:

Support in monitoring Capital and Revenue budgets throughout the year, ensuring financial information is tracked and used for reporting purposes.

Required Skills:

  • Strong customer service skills and a clear, professional communication style.
  • Attention to detail is crucial, particularly in record-keeping and processing financial data.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while juggling various responsibilities.
  • Confidence with accounting and financial tasks, especially monitoring budgets and processing payments.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and electronic systems for data input and record maintenance.

Working Hours & Conditions:

  • This is a part-time role with flexible hours, ranging from 7 to 18.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • £12.59 per hour.
  • The role is office-based in Derby City Centre.
