Recruiting for an experienced Garment Technologist for this growing lifestyle apparel brand based in beautiful Poole.  Working collaboratively with design and production, you will have full ownership of the product lifecycle into bulk production across multi-category womens and menswear ranges.  The ideal applicant will be a team player, who understands production processes, fabric properties and who enjoys accountability and problem solving.

Garment Technologist – The Job Outline

  • Provide technical support to ensure garments are fit for purpose and meet required quality standards.
  • Work closely with the design team to review all tech packs, marry design specification to production taking full ownership of the product lifecycle into bulk production. 
  • Manage fit process, analyse and advise on fit issues and communicate accurate comments to supplies and to maintain workbooks
  • Request, analyse and approve all product/fabric test reports including care labelling and bulk fabrics and trims.
  • Conduct wearer trials to ensure quality standards
  • Amend factory patterns and adapt garments to ensure fits accuracy.
  • Attend weekly meetings to discuss progress of critical path by style
  • Communicate with overseas factories on fit & construction requirements across development and production samples.
  • Seal samples to production
  • Approve care labels, test and QC reports ensuring company standards are met.
  • Monitor and analyse returns and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain clear records of all procedures with documentation of the products history.

Garment Technologist – The Person Specification

  • Degree educated, experienced within a similar garment technologist, product technologist or product developer role.
  • Detailed understanding of garment construction, fit management and knowledge of fabric technology & testing
  • Experience of working directly with offshore factories and suppliers, skilled in understanding production workflow and building strong working relationships for samples and production
  • A positive attitude towards challenges and implementing solutions
  • Strong time management skills; able to prioritise tasks and be flexible
  • Clear communication is a must, both written and verbal
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office ie. Excel
