My client is a long established (since 1985) family run company, who are an integrated facilities services provider and manager of all types of commercial, industrial and institutional property. In over thirty-five years it has grown from its original commercial cleaning roots and diversified into property maintenance and refurbishment, security and facilities management and now has a turnover of circa £13m. I am currently working with them to appoint an experienced cleaning Site based Manager for a building in Liverpool Street. The role will involve overseeing and managing the operations of their commercial cleaning services at a designated client site. The Site Manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of cleanliness, client satisfaction, and team performance while adhering to company standards and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the client and the cleaning company.
  • Regularly communicate with clients to ensure satisfaction with cleaning services.
  • Address and resolve any client concerns or service requests promptly.
  • Oversee the cleaning staff on-site, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and ensuring team performance.
  • Provide training and guidance to the cleaning team to maintain quality standards.
  • Monitor staff attendance and productivity, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules to meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure quality and consistency of cleaning services.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment and supplies are maintained and replenished as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, including supply inventory, staff hours, and service reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Train staff on proper cleaning techniques, equipment use, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and report any issues to the appropriate parties.
  • Perform regular site inspections to ensure that all work meets the company’s quality standards.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and execute improvement plans to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Manage the site’s budget for cleaning supplies, equipment, and labour hours.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Prepare and submit reports on site performance, expenses, and any operational issues.
  • Address any operational challenges swiftly and effectively.
  • Liaise with company management and clients to resolve complex issues.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Required skills, experience and qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of management experience in the commercial cleaning or FM industry.
  • A proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive client relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with cleaning equipment, materials, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the cleaning industry.
  • It would be useful if you had certification in facility management or equivalent training and experience managing large or multi-site cleaning operations.

The role is Full-time, primarily based on-site at the client’s location, it may require evening or weekend work depending on the client's needs. It requires physical activity, such as inspecting cleaning work and working alongside the team if needed.
