Safety Engineer

We are looking for a Part-Time Safety Engineer to assist with the expanding aerospace portfolio for an Aerospace and Defence company; this role is responsible for undertaking Product Safety Management activities for the business based within the Office of Airworthiness. 

This role is based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. (Hybrid work). Inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Head of Airworthiness and Safety (AW&S) in the upkeep and monitoring of the aerospace compliant Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring all Product Safety requirements are met in full
  • Providing advice on Product Safety matters to Project Teams ensuring safety requirements are correctly defined, recorded and met to meet Customer and Regulatory requirement
  • Conducting and guiding Safety Management activities
  • Representing the Safety department at Customer and Internal Design Reviews
  • Generating, reviewing and approving safety documentation
  • Encouraging and managing proactive safety reporting within our Just Culture
  • Assisting the Head of AW&S in the development and implementation of in-house safety management training across the organisation

 Skills and qualifications

  • Knowledge of safety engineering in design
  • Experience working to Def Stan 00-056 and/or Mil Std 882
  • Knowledge of ARP 4754 and ARP 4761
  • Significant aviation safety experience
  • Experience in working within a Design Organisation
  • Advanced report writing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Advanced decision-making and problem solving skills
