SAAF Education are working with a wonderful Trust who have set up a PRU to work with students who need more 1-1 support and a unique way of teaching and support over 6 weeks to get them back into mainstream education.

The Role:
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with teachers to support students in small groups, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve academic and personal success. The successful candidate will have experience working with children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and a passion for making a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted interventions to small groups of students, supporting them across a range of subjects and learning activities.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of differentiated lessons, ensuring students' individual needs are met.
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to help students manage their challenges and improve their engagement in learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and reports as required.
  • Help to create an inclusive, positive, and safe learning environment where all students feel supported.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and parents to encourage open communication and trust.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working with children in a PRU or mainstream setting, particularly those with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach, with excellent behavior management skills.
  • The ability to work flexibly and adapt to the varying needs of students.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in education.
  • A passion for helping students achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.
