Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role will support the finance department with day-to-day financial operations and administration. The ideal candidate will have commercial experience in administration, as well as a solid understanding of finance-related tasks.

As a Finance Assistant, you will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate record-keeping, assist with financial reporting, and provide administrative support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in finance and administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial documents such as invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all financial transactions are properly documented.
  • Reconcile bank statements and assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team, including data entry, filing, and maintaining financial records.
  • Assist with payroll processing, including collecting and verifying employee timesheets and handling queries.
  • Support the team with VAT returns, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Communicate with vendors and clients regarding payments, invoices, and account reconciliations.
  • Monitor and process incoming payments, ensuring timely and accurate posting to accounts.
  • Handle any ad-hoc administrative tasks as required by the finance department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial compliance and efficiency.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience: Proven experience in a commercial administrative role, ideally with exposure to financial operations.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional approach to liaising with clients and vendors.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) is desirable.
  • Education: A qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
  • Team Player: Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
