Duration: 6 month contract

Rate: £60ph LTD (Outside IR35)

Role details:

Our client is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to join their Systems Engineering team. With a passion for Engineering and Technology the candidate should be a team player, committed to all stages of the design and development lifecycle to meet the needs of the business from requirements capture to product design certification and service release.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead, motivate and provide leadership to the Integrated Project Team Engineers in line with the project plan deliverables and development process.
  • Partner with IPT Project Manager on estimates, forecast, status and risks.
  • Direct design and development Engineering tasks in conjunction with IPT Engineers to enable task delivery with agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Provide key technical focal point of contact for IPT to interact with internal and external customers on a senior technical level.
  • Design Review Preparation and Delivery.
  • Provide expert input and guidance to managing Change Review and Failure Review Boards.
  • Analysis of technical requirements to determine and monitor design Technical Performance Measures.
  • Manage definition and delivery of Certificate of Design/Declaration of Design and Performance.
  • Provide regular reporting and KPI status to the Product Group Lead Engineer.

Experience & Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in an aerospace domain
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace Engineering or equivalent higher Engineering qualifications plus experience is desired.
  • Experience with dynamic, gas and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Deep understanding of the Systems Engineering development lifecycle process (Requirements, Systems Design, Verification and Validation).
  • Strong communication skills with the focus on technical leadership for complex design and development projects.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner to drive a compliant design solution.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of DOORS, CAD, CFD and FEA.
  • Member of INCOSE and Professionally Certified.
  • Experience of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and Safety Assessments.
  • Knowledge of airborne Store Carriage and Release systems.
  • The ability to lead other team members technically or subcontractors operationally on multiple projects.
  • Experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or be sufficiently qualified, trained and experienced to become so).
