Location: Derbyshire 

Torque Consulting is currently working with a leading UK manufacturer, which is going through a period of growth! They are looking to add a junior and senior electrical design engineer to the team. The role will involve working on standard and bespoke products with clients across the world.

Role Overview:

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and specification of electrical components, control panels, and cabling systems. You will develop and maintain electrical drawings and collaborate with the shop floor team to commission and troubleshoot new equipment. Additionally, you will support junior engineers, provide guidance to the installation team, and work closely with end customers.

Key duties include:

  • Specifying electrical components, wiring, and cabling.
  • Designing control panels and creating parameter sets for variable frequency drives.
  • Developing and maintaining electrical documentation.
  • Supporting product development by validating new designs through prototyping.
  • Driving quality and efficiency improvements within the technical department.
  • Communicating effectively across multiple departments to ensure project success.
  • Ensuring compliance with company quality and safety procedures.

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • HNC Level qualification (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of variable frequency drives and PLCs.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for creating electrical schematics.
  • Computer literate with a solid working knowledge of Excel.
  • Confident in communicating with various stakeholders across the business.
  • Ability to work at heights for occasional site visits.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing your own workload in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Experience:

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar industry.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, E- Plan. or Zuken E3
  • Experience working to National/European Standards (e.g., BS EN 60204, UL508).
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety standards.
