The School and Role

A specialist Primary school in Hillingdon, West London are seeking Behaviour Support Assistants with a passion for creating fun and engaging ways to support students. Pupils are aged 3-11 and have Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs, as well as associated needs such as Autism or ADHD. The school focuses on areas where progress can be made whether emotionally, socially, behaviourally or academically. The Behaviour Support Assistant will support in small classes with a maximum of 12 students using behaviour management skills in assisting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning.

It is currently made up of 8 different classes - Robin, Elm, Maple, Ash, Chestnut, Pine, Oak and Beech - that support the pupils in different areas of their learning and development.

In addition to delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, The school offer services, such as play therapy, speech and language therapy and an educational psychologist to provide an in-depth assessment of pupils'  learning needs.

The working environment here is one of outstanding support, team work, and a common goal in mind; providing a quality learning environment for their pupils. This school prides itself on giving the opportunity for students to experience a wide variety of curriculum subjects.

Many of their learners have not had success in their education elsewhere. They support their Learners to build trust and desire to learn by offering wrap-around pastoral care. They focus on building positive relationships that help to break down barriers, build self-esteem and challenge disaffection

Requirements
The desired Behaviour Support Assistant will:

  • Be confident in behaviour management skills to de-escalate any threatening or aggressive behaviour.
  • To mentor and engage with the students, delivering specifically designed educational packages.
  • You will need to be resilient, empathetic, patient and not take things too personally.
  • Have relevant experience of working with children, young people or vulnerable adults
