Facilities Assistant, Gallery, London, Permanent, £28,000 annum

Our client, a gallery in London, requires a Facilities Assistant to join their Facilities Department. The Facilities Assistant would support the daily maintenance and operations of the gallery.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting daily walks of the buildings, reporting findings to the facilities manager
  • Maintain health and safety policies, with a focus on COSHH and risk assessments
  • Oversee contractors on-site to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Open and close building as required, monitoring security and reporting breaches
  • Perform general maintenance tasks
  • Provide reception cover during silent hours and respond to office requests
  • Handle porter duties, including deliveries and furniture installation
  • Monitor fire exit routes to ensure they remain clear and accessible
  • Prepare event spaces to meet high presentation standards for private hire
  • Maintain external areas and consumables

Requirements

  • Experience in providing facilities support
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements with the ability to identify concerns
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training health and safety qualification, preferably NEBOSH and IOSH
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office software
