We are recruiting for a mobile maintenance electrician to cover lead engineering works (HVLV) and hands-on maintenance within large scale plant rooms in Newcastle (and satellite sites). The role is a Permanent position paying up to 42k basic. Car or Van supplied (with personal use and upgrade options), laptop and phone, 25 days holiday plus stat, overtime available and on-call 1 in 4 (£145 standby payment plus OT). Supported by a strong multi-skilled operational team, the focus will be operating and maintaining the plant and equipment and improving the efficiencies of several energy centre plant rooms. Electrical Engineers from the following backgrounds are welcome to apply: Energy, Heavy Industrial, Marine Engineers, Manufacturing / Production, Energy Generation etc.
Responsibilities - Electrical Engineer / Mobile Electrician
• Carry out the defined planned maintenance regime for all contractual obligations within the energy centers and the network substations.
• Carry out LV/HV related activities including switching and isolations.
• Ensure Safe Systems of Work are in place.
• Issuing of Permit to Work.
• Carry out repairs, reactive maintenance and minor installation works on plant.
• Attend, diagnose and repair faults having due regard to customer care in this specific environment.
• Carry out proactive plant monitoring activities to ensure efficient utilization of plant and equipment
• Interrogation of operational information systems to support daily operations as well as fault diagnosis
• Complete the relevant paperwork and report diligently.
• Any other relevant duties that may be required, some of which may be outside normal working hours.
• Maintain all documentation and records to the highest standard
• Understand the contracts and obligations
• Project a professional image to external and internal customers
• Other tasks as directed by Line Management
• Operate in accordance with Best Practice, Equal Opportunities, Recognize and value Diversity in the Workplace and demonstrate respect for others.
• Place the highest importance upon Health and Safety policies and procedures
Qualifications or Required Experience:
• 17th /18th Edition Electrical Engineer, with Industrial Experience preferred.
• Qualified Electrical Engineer, High Voltage Switching experience preferred, but not essential training will be provided for the correct candidate.
• Solid Electrical fault-finding and practical skills required.
• Experience of working with Heat / Electrical Generation plant preferred.
• Basic BMS knowledge is ideal
• Good working knowledge of Risk assessments and Method statements (Write and Review)
• Have experience of Permit to Work systems.
• Able to work unsupervised and function as part of a team
• Very strong Excel and IT skills
• Driving License essential
