Part-Time Bookkeeper

Pertemps Stoke are currently seeking a Bookkeeper to support our client in managing their accounts on a day-to-day basis while also taking on various administrative and customer service tasks. If you’re detail-oriented and looking for a flexible role working 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday, 9am to 3pm), this could be a great fit for you.

Main duties of this Bookkeeper role:

  • Manage accounts daily, following a monthly schedule and the financial year.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Maintain purchase and sales ledgers.
  • Oversee credit control tasks.
  • Record and reconcile bank account transactions.
  • Enter journals for re-coding purposes.
  • Generate and issue sales invoices through third-party systems.
  • Produce financial reports using Sage Accounts.
  • Process supplier payments at month-end.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of VAT codes.
  • Have a strong grasp of the nominal structure and coding system.
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash, recording transactions in accounting software and spreadsheets.
Skills required for this Bookkeeper role:
  • 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience (essential).
  • A bookkeeping qualification (ICB Certification or AAT) is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience using Sage Line 50 (essential).
  • Bring enthusiasm and energy to the role.
  • Confident and assertive in communication.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Dedicated to providing same-day responses to client inquiries.

  • Hours: 24 per week (Monday to Thursday, 9am to 3pm)
  • Contract length: 9 months
  • Pay: £12.50 per hour
