This is a unique opportunity for an experienced quality professional or rising star to lead quality initiatives in a dynamic, heavy engineering environment.

Role Overview

As a Quality Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality management system and ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. You will lead a team of 2 quality technicians, working collaboratively across departments to drive continuous improvement and enhance overall business performance. Your leadership will be vital in maintaining customer satisfaction and upholding the company's esteemed reputation in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the ISO9001 quality management system in line with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Lead and mentor the quality team, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and other relevant regulations.
  • Oversee product inspections and testing processes, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
  • Review and approve inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action plans.
  • Analyse quality data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for quality-related issues with customers and suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments, ensuring compliance with quality standards and practices.
  • Collaborate with customers on quality projects and initiatives to enhance overall satisfaction.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the business, utilizing Lean Six Sigma principles and other methodologies.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance quality awareness and practices throughout the organization.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all findings are addressed promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive quality records and documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Prepare and present quality reports and metrics to senior management, highlighting performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure timely closure of quality issues and customer complaints, tracking progress and follow-up actions.

Skills and Requirements

  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and ISO standards, particularly in a heavy engineering context.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements relevant to the heavy engineering sector.
  • Proven experience in a quality management role within a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.

The starting salary ranges from £45,000 to £52,000, with the potential for increases for exceptional candidates.
