My client is a leading timber processor operating across both Ireland and the UK, providing products for the construction, pallet wood, and fencing industries. They also specialize in the manufacture of timber frame homes and engineered roof trusses for the house-building sector. With over 900 employees, they are committed to continuous growth, investment, and service excellence. As part of their expansion, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Contracts Manager for their timber frame division.

Role:
We are currently seeking an Assistant Contracts Manager with timber experience to join our growing timber frame business. This is a permanent role offering the opportunity to gain significant experience in a fast-growing sector. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction, including quality control procedures and health and safety requirements on construction sites. They will work closely with the Contracts Manager and receive training, guidance, and support to develop within this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Contracts Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of sites across Ireland.
  • Ensure high standards of work are maintained throughout the installation process.
  • Record and report any site issues as part of the quality control and certification process.
  • Manage variations and day works according to company procedures.
  • Conduct weekly toolbox talks and other tasks assigned to the site teams.
  • Serve as a key point of contact between the site, design, and manufacturing teams, ensuring all work complies with building regulations and proper documentation is maintained.
  • Assist in managing site erecting teams on a daily basis.
  • Maintain detailed site diaries and photographic reports for sign-off documentation.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the timber frame industry and suggest improvements for long-term product quality.
  • Maintain thorough records of meetings, client correspondence, and interactions with the site team.
  • Foster positive relationships between the site team, clients, and third parties.
  • Ensure that materials and equipment on-site are well-maintained and secure.
  • Create realistic schedules and site plans, sharing them with the design and production teams.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards on-site, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Drive efficiencies and standardize approaches, practices, and reporting across projects.

Desired Qualifications and Benefits:

  • Timber frame experience is required for this role.
  • A trade or building qualification would be beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication.
  • A full clean driver’s license (company vehicle provided).
  • Previous experience in construction.
