The responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer role are as follows:
- Work within the NPI, Process Development and CI framework for both existing and new products.
- Carry out Effective 8D Problem Solving.
- Carry out Corrective Action Effectiveness.
- Provide project plans, programs, fixture design and process instructions which can be used to create a conforming part, repeatedly, within agreed timescales, to an agreed cost and at an agreed rate.
- Ensure the MRP / ERP Engineering system and data is accurate and up to date
- Create manufacturing processes – working from 3D models and 2D engineering drawings
- Fixture & Tooling Design
- CADCAM – Autodesk Inventor & Powermill and other related software
The skills required to fulfil the role of Manufacturing Engineer are as follows:
- CAD/CAM and CNC machines
- Lean manufacturing, six sigma methodologies and process optimization techniques
- Hands on experience
- Ideally familiar with AS9100 and ISO9001
- Understanding of metals, alloys and composite materials
