You will be working with a successful and fast-growing organisation providing specialist logistics services in a B2c environment.

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading both commercial and operations functions across two UK sites, whilst supporting the business strategically to achieve its continued growth plans.  
  
Role and responsibilities:
The purpose of the role is to ensure service excellence to your customer base, ensuring your business unit is cost effective and profitable. 
  
You will have full responsibility for leading sales & account management, and operations teams (warehouse & transport functions) through the effective management and development of 3 direct reports (senior managers).

Additional responsibilities include:

• Support the Sales & Business Development teams commercially by identifying opportunities to increase volumes / provide additional services to new and existing customers.
• Work with operations teams to support best practice across the network and identifying any areas for improvement taking corrective action and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
• Financial management; P&L and budget management.
• Implement & monitor performance metrics to ensure the best possible customers service levels are achieved consistently.
• Ensure optimum efficiency in warehouse capacity and transport performance is achieved throughout the operation.
• Create a culture of engagement, encouraging training, development & continuous learning across all departments.
• Promote health and safety standards across all locations, ensuring compliance with all HSE processes.

Experience required:

We are looking for a commercially astute senior manager who can lead people through change, placing employee engagement at the heart of everything they do.  You will need a proven record in delivering results working alongside cross functional teams as the business continues its significant growth in the UK.

Experience in cost control, budget management and P&L reporting is essential.  Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial data effectively is a key requirement of this role.

Experience of operating within a private equity backed environment would be advantageous.

Demonstrable experience of managing sales driven, customer focused logistics operations is essential in this role - knowledge of B2c operations is advantageous.

A degree and/or master’s qualification in a subject related to business management, or a relevant industry qualification would be an advantage.

Any relevant qualifications in health & safety, quality management, or project management would be highly advantageous.
