Our client, a leading children's hospice in Barnet, North London, is seeking a dedicated Senior Children's Nurse (Band 6) to join their team. This role offers a competitive salary up to £49,976, depending on experience. You'll also enjoy a generous joining bonus of £5,000 over three years, with an initial £500 on appointment. Our client is a well-respected children's hospice that provides specialist care and nursing for babies, children, and young people with complex medical needs. With a state-of-the-art facility set in a beautiful nature reserve, the hospice offers a unique environment where children can explore, play, and build confidence while receiving the highest standard of care.

As a Senior Children's Nurse, you will:

  • Provide direct line management support to Band 5 Nurses and Band 3 + 4 Specialist Carers.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care in the hospice, children's homes, or community settings.
  • Plan and review care in collaboration with families to ensure safety and advocacy.
  • Ensure fun, sensitivity, and compassion are integral to the care provided.
  • Administer medications and maintain the nutritional status of all children.
  • Participate in governance activities, including incident reporting and resource management.
  • Offer training and development opportunities to staff and family members.

The ideal Senior Children's Nurse candidate will have:

  • Registration as a Sick Children’s Nurse or Registered Nurse (Child Branch).
  • Relevant post-qualification experience at Band 5 level.
  • Experience in nursing children with life-limiting conditions.
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and a commitment to the hospice's values of kindness, excellence, and courage.
