£44,000 - £48,000/annum + Regular Overtime

We are looking for a Field Service & Commissioning Engineer (Electrical Bias) to work on a permanent basis for our client who are a forward-thinking company at the forefront of packaging technology, specialising in providing high-performance packaging equipment to the beverage sector.

The Package and work pattern for the Field Service & Commissioning Engineer role:

  • Salary: Competitive salary based on experience plus overtime
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm, with occasional overnight stays
  • Location: UK-based with frequent UK travel and occasional international assignments
  • Contract: Permanent

Key Responsibilities for the Field Service & Commissioning Engineer role:

  1. Commission new equipment at client sites, ensuring all machinery is fully operational and meets performance expectations.
  2. Troubleshoot electrical systems, including Mitsubishi PLCs, to identify and resolve issues.
  3. Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on packaging equipment, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
  4. Replace parts and upgrade systems as necessary, providing long-term reliability.
  5. Collaborate with clients to offer technical support and recommend improvements for enhanced system performance.
  6. Train client staff on equipment operation, safety procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
  7. Manage own schedule to efficiently meet the needs of clients across the UK, with some overnight stays required.
  8. Complete detailed service reports to document tasks, issues, and resolutions.

  • Reports To: Director
  • Clients across the UK and internationally

Required Competencies for the Field Service & Commissioning Engineer role:

  1. Strong expertise in Mitsubishi PLCs, including system design and fault-finding
  2. Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills
  3. Flexibility to travel across the UK and internationally when required
  4. Excellent communication skills for client-facing interactions

Essential Qualifications for the Field Service & Commissioning Engineer role:

  • Time-served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in electrical engineering
  • Previous experience in industries such as FMCG, food & beverage, or manufacturing
  • Full clean driving licence

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications in electrical engineering or related fields
  • Experience with other PLC systems
