Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and prescribe appropriate manual and powered wheelchairs based on individual needs
  • Modify standard equipment to maximise function and independence
  • Provide training and advice on wheelchair use, posture, and pressure care
  • Ensure adherence to clinical and regulatory standards for excellence in service provision
  • Collaborate with other professionals and organisations to provide holistic care
  • Oversee treatment plans and provide supervision to support staff
  • Keep up-to-date with advances in technology, techniques, and equipment
  • Comply with professional codes of conduct and ethical guidelines
  • Champion diversity and promote equality of access and outcomes

Essential Requirements:

  • State registered Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Clinical Scientist
  • Working knowledge of person-centred service provision
  • Understanding of the needs of individuals with long-term disabilities
  • Familiarity with wheelchair prescription, cushions, and special seating
  • Experience working within the community and collaborating with education and social services
  • Knowledge of quality assurance systems and clinical excellence regimes
  • Familiarity with health and social care policies and legislation
  • Ability to carry out complex wheelchair assessments

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within Adult Social Care, or independent sector organisations
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating with various stakeholders
  • Direct clinical leadership experience
  • Customer service experience
